Vince, Sam, Jake, Brockers, Jon, Nick, Tav, and Mike
Before the team arrived, I nipped underground to Can of Worms to take another sediment sample from the ‘blasted’ rift (some interesting findings in the sample collected previously) before returning to the surface.

Back at the entrance met Sam who was tossing packs of empty bags down the rift. A brief chat, Sam went along to CoW to begin digging, I went up to the surface. The rest of the team were arriving. Nick, Brockers, Jake, and Jon were quickly below ground, Tav remained on the surface with me. Mike made a late appearance and, he too, ventured below ground. Thankfully, it was very pleasant on the surface in the warm early autumn sunshine.
Throughout the morning spoil arrived from the digs to the surface at a good, steady rate, easily manageable with two of us on the surface. Digging was taking place in at least three locations (two in CoW, one in the pot). The sediment from each location was very different. Over 90 bags were filled, hauled, and emptied, there were just a few rocks added to the spoil heap wall.
All too soon it was time to pack it in and make our way up the hill to the Hunters’ for some well-earned refreshments.
