26th September

I was at Hidden Earth in Llangollen, others were elsewhere, leaving a small, but dedicated team to forge ahead…

Report by Jon

“Three productive members of the team (Jon, Jake and Nick) met at the farm at the appointed hour. Nick remembered the key and the team walked up to the dig through the long grass. In the absence of a full team, moral was high. All members present initially went underground.

Jon and Jake started in Can of Worms; Nick started in the pot.  Following an assessment of what could be achieved on the day, the effort then focused on the pot.

The spoil was taken to the surface in two stages and ultimately spread, evenly, on the spoil heap at the end of the session. A total of 52 bags was removed, along with a surprisingly large number of rocks.

With no mechanical timekeeping device available, the team put their trust in Jake’s beer clock, which worked to high precision.

Jake returned the key to its proper place and the team retired to a local hostelry for light refreshments.”
