23rd September

Vince, Jake, Jon, Nick, and Tav

After some discussion it was decided likely that, due to the recently imposed 20 MPH speed limit in Wales, Brockers was still driving back from north Wales!

Down at the far reaches of the deep Soft South, Jake was digging today (he hasn’t been to the end for quite a while due to a niggling knee problem). He was suitably enthused by the comfort and ease of digging. Jon was clearing back the filled bags and the occasional rock; it was my turn on the haul and shuttle, I was aided by Nick who came down from the ledge to carry bags along to the pot. Nick then returned to the ledge to empty the bucket and transfer the load to the next drag tray. Tav was at the bottom of the entrance hauling the spoil and temporarily stashing the filled bags all around in the available space, to be removed later.

Trick or Treat is now easily reached from the Soft South – it is almost a “walk-in”. the point is that due to logistical problems with spoil removal we never did a great deal of digging in this region, now is our opportunity.

As usual the digging ceased at about midday and the cave was cleared, bags emptied onto the spoil heap. All done, back to the farm, change, and up to the Hunter’s Lodge Inn for some refreshment and discussion.
